According to MacRumors, Apple is testing the "searching tags" shortcut search feature to make search results more accurate for users.
It is reported that some Apple users (U.S. App Store) have already seen these searching tags in the App Store search results.
For example, after searching for "photos" in the search box, "collage" and "editor" search searching tags will be displayed at the top of the search results page.
When you click on a searching tags, the search results will change and give you the corresponding app.
The App Store already has more than 2 million apps, and Apple is testing a "searching tags" quick search feature to make search results more accurate.
In recent weeks, when some iPhone users use the App Store to search for "photos" or "wallpaper," a related tab appears at the top.
For example, after searching for "Photos", the top photo will show "Editor" or "Storage" and so on.
When you click on a searching tags, the search result will also change and give you the corresponding application.
At present, the App Store searching tagsging function is only available for some users in the U.S. App Store, and most of the users who can experience this function are running iOS 14.5 beta version.
Apple's website mentions that 70% of App Store users discover applications through search, so the search searching tags feature will be convenient for users to use.
For example, if a user searches for "photos" and taps on "collage", the search results will show applications related to photo collage editing.
It is reported that these searching tags are currently visible to only a few users, and most users who see the searching tags are running iOS 14.5 beta, but a few users have reported seeing the searching tags on iOS 14.4.2.
According to Apple's official data, search and download is the number one traffic portal: about 70% of users use the App Store's search function to find apps.
And for this traffic portal, Apple has been making moves in recent years.
For example, in 2016, Apple launched Search Ads, which allows developers to pay Apple to have their app listings displayed at the top of search results based on factors such as the relevance of the app to the user's search query.
In September 2018, Apple adjusted the display format of App Store search results, and "feature" (i.e. story, now mostly appears under the name of "story") appeared under the keyword search results.
Although the ranking of topics/stories in search results is not fixed, and the position of the same topic/story is not the same when searching different keywords, it is still ranked relatively high.
This adjustment undoubtedly provides another free exposure position for the app.
In addition, in the App Store of iOS11 and above, users can not only search for in-app purchase items, topics/stories, but also directly search for "developer business cards".
In addition, when users search for a certain keyword, the search association box will also automatically recommend developer business cards related to that keyword.
According to reports, Apple is testing the new feature to make search results more in line with users' search needs.
The feature is currently only available for some users in the U.S. App Store, and most of the users who have experienced the feature are running the iOS 14.5 beta, with a few users reporting seeing the feature on iOS 14.4.2, as well.
Other regions have not yet released the function, but we will probably see it soon.
