Apple's event today was jam-packed with new announcements. The iPhone 14 lineup includes four new models, as well as the Apple Watch Series 8, Apple Watch Ultra, AirPods Pro 2, and much more. The full details on everything Apple announced at today's "Far out" event from Steve Jobs Theater can be found below.
Series 8 Apple Watch

We started with the new Apple Watch Series 8 today. The addition of not one, but two new temperature sensors is the most significant change here. One of these temperature sensors is on the back of the watch, near your skin, and the other is under the display. According to Apple, the dual-sensor design reduces "bias from the outside environment."
The new temperature sensors will power new female health features. According to Apple, the Apple Watch Series 8 will sample the wrist temperature every five seconds while sleeping and measure changes as small as 0.1° C.Users can receive retrospective ovulation estimates using the new temperature-sensing capabilities in Apple Watch Series 8.
*The Apple Watch Series 8 also includes a new Crash Detection feature. This feature detects car accidents using "an advanced sensor-fusion algorithm" and "a new, more powerful gyroscope and accelerometer."
Apple Watch Series 8 is available to order starting today in two sizes, 41mm and 45mm. Aluminum case colors for Apple Watch Series 8 include starlight, midnight, silver, and (PRODUCT)RED, while the stainless steel case offers silver, graphite, and gold. Pricing is unchanged and starts at $399. The first orders arrive on Friday, September 16.
Apple Watch SE

In addition to the Apple Watch Series 8, a new Apple Watch SE is available. The new Apple Watch SE has the same design as its predecessor. The only physical difference is a new matching back case made of a nylon composite material that is slightly lighter than before.
Apple Watch SE comes in 40mm and 44mm aluminum cases with midnight, starlight, and silver finishes. It's available to order today for $249, which is $30 less than the previous price.
Apple Watch Ultra

The Apple Watch Ultra, on the other hand, is where the Apple Watch shines. The Apple Watch Ultra has a new 49mm casing made from a more durable titanium formulation than before. On the left, there's a new Action button that can be customized to do things like start a workout, open an app or even run a shortcut.
The maximum display brightness of the Apple Watch Ultra is 2000 nits, which is 2x brighter than any other Apple Watch. There are also three built-in microphones and advanced wind noise-reduction algorithms to improve sound quality.
The Apple Watch Ultra has a plethora of features designed for
extreme sports. A dual-frequency GPS with new positioning algorithms provides the most accurate GPS of any Apple Watch to date. This provides users with more precise data for things like distance, pace, and route data.
Other features of the Apple Watch Ultra include:
● In watchOS 9, the completely redesigned
Compass app displays more detailed information and three distinct views.
●
Backtrack uses GPS data to create a path that shows where the user has been.
● An integrated
86-decibel siren is designed for emergencies.
● Apple Watch Ultra includes a
Depth app that displays time, current depth, water temperature, duration underwater, and maximum depth reached by utilizing a new depth gauge.
● The Apple Watch Ultra has the longest battery life of any Apple Watch, lasting up to 36 hours in normal use and up to 60 hours in low power mode.
The Apple Watch Ultra is now available for $799, and the first orders will be delivered on September 23.

AirPods Pro 2

Apple then introduced the long-awaited second-generation AirPods Pro. The design of the AirPods Pro 2 remains unchanged, with the same in-ear form factor as before. However, you will receive a new extra small ear tip size in the box.
The AirPods Pro 2 is powered by Apple's new H2 audio chip. According to Apple, the AirPods Pro 2 will cancel up to twice as much noise as the previous generation. A new low-distortion audio driver and custom amplifier are also included for a richer base and clearer audio.
Apple's Transparency mode is being expanded with a new Adaptive Transparency feature. This feature works by reducing loud environmental noises such as a passing vehicle siren, construction tools, or even loudspeakers at a concert using on-device processing.
Apple has added a capacitive layer of controls to the AirPods Pro stem. These controls allow you to instantly adjust volume levels by swiping up or down. You also get the same force touch sensor as before for controls like play and pause.
AirPods Pro provides 1.5 hours more listening time than the original, for a total of up to six hours. You can use the charging case for up to 30 hours. The charging case now includes Find Mine with precision tracking, integrated speakers for pinging it if you misplace it, and wrist strap connectors. It can now be charged using the Apple Watch charging puck as well.
On Friday, September 9, the AirPods Pro 2 will be available for purchase. The price remains unchanged at $249. The first orders will be delivered on September 16.
Apple's iPhone 14 & iPhone 14 Plus

Moving on, at today's event, Apple officially announced the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. The addition of the iPhone 14 Plus is, of course, the most significant change here. This model replaces the "mini" size in the lineup and has a 6.7-inch display.
The A15 Bionic chip with a 5-core GPU powers the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, a slight upgrade over the iPhone 13 last year. They also support Crash Detection, just like the Apple Watch.
Both models have an updated internal design for improved thermal performance, as well as Super Retina XDR, displays with OLED technology that can reach 1200 nits of peak HDR brightness.
*This year has also seen significant advancements in camera technology. Both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus includes a new 12MP main camera with a larger sensor and larger pixels.
Apple has also included a new Photogenic Engine, which uses hardware and software to improve low-light and mid-light performance across the board: up to 2x on the Ultra Wide camera, 2x on the TrueDepth camera, and 2.5x on the new Main camera.
The complete list of camera upgrades:
● A new Main camera with a larger /1.5 aperture and 1.9 m pixels for better detail and motion freezing, less noise, faster exposure times, and sensor-shift optical image stabilization.
● A new front TrueDepth camera with an/1.9 aperture for improved low-light performance in photos and video. For the first time, it can focus even faster in low light and capture group shots from a greater distance.
● A new Action mode for an incredibly smooth-looking video that compensates for significant shakes, motion, and vibrations, even when the video is captured in the middle of the action.
● The Ultra Wide camera, with Photonic Engine, provides a unique perspective for wider shots as well as improvements to low-light photos.
● An enhanced True Tone flash that is 10% brighter and has improved uniformity for more consistent lighting.
● Cinematic mode is now available in 4K at 30 frames per second and 4K at 24 frames per second.
● End-to-end Dolby Vision HDR is only available on the iPhone.
As has been rumored for nearly two years, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus now support satellite connectivity. This is referred to by Apple as an expansion of the Emergency SOS feature.
The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will be available in the following colors: midnight, blue, starlight, purple, and (PRODUCT)RED. Pre-orders begin on Friday, September 9, with iPhone 14 availability beginning on Friday, September 16, and iPhone 14 Plus availability beginning on Friday, October 7.

iPhone 14 Pro

Last but not least, the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The most noticeable difference is the new "Dynamic Island" cutout that appears at the top of the display in place of the notch alongside the Always-On display.
The new pill-shaped cutout at the top is even more interactive and versatile than rumors suggested. You can access more options and controls by tapping and holding. Dynamic Island can display album art for content in the Music app, controls for FaceTime, specific background activities, and more. The new Live Activities feature in iOS 16 also integrates with Dynamic Island, so you can see live notifications directly in the new screen area.
The display technology on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max has also been significantly improved. The bezels have been reduced in size, and there is now a peak outdoor brightness of 2000 nits as well as HDR brightness of 1600 nits.
The iPhone 14 Pro is powered by a new A16 chip that is built on an updated 4nm process for increased efficiency and performance.
The camera technology on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max is as good as we expected. The primary camera now has a 48MP lens with a quad-pixel sensor and an f/1.78 aperture. This quad-pixel sensor "adapts to the image being captured," combining four pixels into one. The quad-pixel sensor also allows for a 2x Telephoto mode.
Aside from the new changes, there are a few other improvements, including the first-ever upgrade for the Ultra Wide camera:
● A new
12MP Ultra Wide camera with 1.4 m pixels that produces sharper.
● An improved Telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.
● A
new front TrueDepth camera with an/1.9 aperture for improved low-light performance in photos and video. For the first time, it can focus even faster in low light and capture group shots from a greater distance.
● A completely redesigned Adaptive True Tone flash with an array of nine LEDs that change pattern depending on focal length.
● Night mode, Smart HDR 4, Portrait mode with Portrait Lighting, Night mode Portrait photos, Photographic Styles to personalize the look of every photo.
● A
new Action mode for an incredibly smooth-looking video that compensates for significant shakes, motion, and vibrations, even when the video is captured in the middle of the action.
● Cinematic mode is now available in
4K at 30 frames per second and
4K at 24 frames per second.
● Professional video workflows, including ProRes and Dolby Vision HDR from start to finish.
Of course, the iPhone 14 Pro includes the previously mentioned Crash Detection and Emergency SOS via satellite.
The iPhone 14 Proa and iPhone 14 Pro max come in four different colors: space black, deep purple, silver, and gold. The iPhone 14 Pro starts at $999 and the iPhone 14 Pro Max starts at $1099. Pre-orders will begin on September 9 and will be available on September 16.
