Apple has released iOS 17.0.2 and iPadOS 17.0.2, bringing bug fixes and improvements to iPhone and iPad in UK.
Apple has swiftly addressed issues with its latest iOS updates, releasing iOS 17.0.2 and iPadOS 17.0.2 only five days after the initial launch of iOS 17.0.1 and iPadOS 17.0.1. These updates, designated as build 21A351, are now available for all eligible iPhones and iPads. Users can easily download them over-the-air by navigating to Settings > General > Software Update.
Initially, iOS 17.0.2 was exclusively rolled out to owners of the iPhone 15, with prompts for installation appearing during the iPhone setup process. However, Apple has now extended this update to all iPhones compatible with iOS 17, making it accessible to a broader user base. Notably, iPhone 15 users who had already installed the software will not encounter this update.
One of the critical fixes in iOS 17.0.2 addresses a specific issue related to data transfer during the initial setup process. This issue primarily affected iPhone 15 models, preventing seamless data transfer from another iPhone. The release notes for iPadOS 17.0.2 highlight the same problem but in the context of transferring data from another iPad.
Some new iPhone 15 owners discovered that they were unable to transfer data from their old iPhone during the setup process. Ideally, they should have received a prompt to update to iOS 17.0.2 as part of the setup, after which the data transfer would proceed smoothly. However, for some users, this process didn't occur as expected, or it took an unusually long time, necessitating a connection to a Mac to download the update. While restoring from an iCloud backup remained a viable option, direct transfers from the old device were preferred for their speed and completeness.
In conjunction with these updates, Apple has also released watchOS 10.0.2 for Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. This particular update can be installed through the Watch app.
In summary, Apple has swiftly responded to user feedback and bug reports, ensuring that data transfer during setup is seamless for all iPhone and iPad users. Additionally, they have extended the availability of iOS 17.0.2 and iPadOS 17.0.2 to a wider range of devices, prioritizing user experience and security.
