Here’s everything Apple just announced at its 2023 event: iPhone 15 models, new Apple Watch in UK.
The annual Apple Event has arrived, bringing with it exciting new product announcements.
Apple's CEO, Tim Cook, revealed the iPhone 15 series, Apple Watch Series 9, and Apple Watch Ultra 2. Additionally, Apple is set to ship the Vision Pro headset early next year.
Throughout the conference, Apple highlighted its commitment to sustainability, showcasing products that use recycled materials and carbon-neutral initiatives.
The conference kicked off with the unveiling of the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, the flagship products of the event. These phones feature textured matte finishes, durable ceramic screen glass, and brighter displays with up to 2,000 nits of brightness.
Impressively, 75% of the casing is made from recycled aluminum, aligning with Apple's environmental goals. Notably, Apple is phasing out leather materials in iPhone cases. Both iPhone 15 models are powered by the A16 Bionic chip.
The iPhone 15 comes in five vibrant colors, offers a battery life of up to 26 hours, and boasts an improved video playback time compared to its predecessor. Notably, the notch screen is replaced with Smart Island technology, and all models now feature USB-C interfaces. Apple also introduced a unique feature, allowing iPhone 15 users to access Roadside Assistance via communication satellites, free of charge for two years.
Apple then unveiled the high-end iPhone 15 Pro, featuring aerospace-grade titanium in its design for a lightweight yet robust build. Available in black, blue, and silver, both the iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max are equipped with the advanced A17 Bionic chip, promising exceptional performance.
The A17 Pro includes a redesigned graphics processor, offering unparalleled graphics performance, enhanced mobile gaming experiences, and hardware-level ray tracing. Additionally, it supports USB 3 for faster transfer speeds and compatibility with Mac and iPad charging cables, achieving file transfer speeds 20 times faster with a battery life of up to 29 hours.
Apple introduced a custom multi-function button, the Action button, replacing the mute switch on the iPhone 15 Pro. This button allows for various customized actions, enhancing user convenience. The iPhone 15 series features a 48-megapixel main camera, with the Pro Max model incorporating a periscope telephoto lens for impressive optical zoom capabilities.
Apple also unveiled new smartwatches, including the ninth-generation Apple Watch Series 9 and the second-generation Apple Watch Ultra 2.
Both watches share the same design as their predecessors but feature upgraded chip configurations. Notably, Apple Watch Series 9 is Apple's first carbon-neutral product, with tables made from 95% recycled titanium and leather-free watch straps.
Apple's commitment to carbon neutrality extends across its entire business, supply chain, and product life cycle, aligning with its 2030 goal.
Apple Watch Series 9 boasts the S9 chip based on the A15 chip, offering improved processing power and GPU performance. With screen brightness up to 2,000 nits, it ensures clear visibility even in bright conditions. The device's battery life extends to 18 hours, and the S9 processor incorporates a new quad-core neural network engine, enabling faster on-device processing of Siri requests and health data access.
The Series 9 watch includes a second-generation ultra-bandwidth chip, enhancing positioning accuracy and enabling the "find iPhone function." Additionally, a new one-handed gesture, the "two-finger tap," offers convenient interaction scenarios.
Throughout the conference, Apple emphasized its efforts to reduce carbon emissions and achieve carbon neutrality. A dedicated "small theater" highlighted these initiatives, including plans to eliminate plastics from product packaging, the use of 100% recycled aluminum, and the removal of leather from mobile phone protective cases.
Apple also pledged to use 100% clean electricity for its operations. Some Apple Watch products became the first carbon-neutral offerings, and Apple committed to avoiding leather in future materials.
